Lip Blush is a semi-permanent lip makeup technique that delivers natural, long-lasting results. Proper preparation and aftercare are essential for the best outcome.
How to Prepare at Home Before the Procedure?
- Moisturize lips with a good balm (e.g. petroleum jelly-based) for at least one week before.
- Avoid lip scrubs, peels or laser treatments on the lips for 4 weeks prior.
- Drink plenty of water and eat healthily to keep skin hydrated.
- Avoid sun exposure or tanning for 2 weeks before to prevent irritation.
Which Supplements Are Worth Taking Before?
To reduce swelling and bruising:
- Start Arnica Montana (homeopathic) one day before – 2 tablets 3× daily for 5 days (continue after).
- Avoid blood-thinning substances: aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, ginkgo – at least 48 hours before (consult your doctor).
- If you have a history of cold sores, take antiviral medication (e.g. acyclovir) for 2 days before.
What to Do After the Procedure?
Aftercare lasts 7–14 days – be gentle:
- Apply a thin layer of recommended ointment (e.g. Aquaphor) several times a day.
- Gently cleanse lips with cool water and fragrance-free soap twice daily, pat dry (do not rub).
- Drink through a straw to minimize contact.
- Eat soft, dry foods – avoid hot drinks.
- Use ice in a sterile bag for swelling (never directly on skin).
What to Avoid for Beautiful Healing?
To help pigment settle and prevent infection:
- Do not touch, pick or lick lips – let skin exfoliate naturally.
- Avoid spicy, salty, acidic foods and menthol for at least one week.
- No exercise, sauna, swimming or sun exposure for 7–14 days.
- Skip makeup, acids (AHA, BHA) or peels on lips for 2 weeks.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 48 hours after.
What to Do Before and After a Top-Up?
Top-up is usually done 6–8 weeks later, once lips have fully healed.
- Before: Repeat the same preparation – moisturizing, avoiding blood thinners, Arnica one day prior.
- After: Follow identical aftercare as after the first session. Results will be even more durable!
